I choosed Somollis Rio for first "husband" of Taru
The reasons...
I wanted to make some unique. To combine the lines of Fetch and Raider with one of the best swedish line, Somollis was my basic idea. I knew the Somollis line before, but I had opportunity getting to know some stunning Somollis dog in Norway. This point was when I decided that I would like to use one of them and started researching deeply in pedigrees. I wanted to use Somollis Silver (Sane), because his amazing drive, will to work and temperament (honestly in these he reminded me my crazy Suvi) and because his father, Jim (ISDS 305215). I'm impressed by his offsprings. Unfortunatly in the end I couldn't use him, because there were some not clear health issues among Sane's siblings which made the combination risky and it would have been irresponsible decision to use him.
Then I had to replan my conception. I remembered a dog on Norwegian Open where I could see Sane too. This dog was also well-structured with nice temperament and seemed cooler minded than Sane, more handler focused. He was Somollis Rossi (Rozz) owned by Tobias Sjöberg. I had to check his background, so I contacted with Lisa Hansson, the owner and breeder of Somollis dogs. Another disappointment came; Rozz doesn't have herding test which needs for breeding exam. In this point Lisa recommanded me Rio, Rozz' brother who is not as well-known as Rozz and Tobias, but he is a great sheepdog and also doing some agility.
I made contact with Rio's owner, Jenny Nilsson. Jenny is not a breeder and basically she's never planned to use him as stud. So in important questions I consultated with Lisa, because of her experience and knowledge of these lines in Rio's pedigree. It seemed that everything is perfect for the mating. :)
As Jenny told me:
"Rio is a balanced dog. He is responsive, honest, powerfull dog. Do everything with a good attitude. And perhaps most important right now is that he's a great family dog. Take care of my daughter I would not be in place."
Here you can watch a video about Rio
